The simple version
What it does
It tells your brain to start the chain that makes testosterone or estrogen.
How people take it
In research it's given once by IV at 1 µg per kg (about 70 µg for a 70 kg adult).
Know this
It works in short human studies, but at-home daily shots have never been tested, and nonstop use stops working.
What it is
Kisspeptin is a hormone your brain makes that acts as the main 'on' switch for reproduction; you need it for puberty and normal fertility. Kisspeptin-10 is its shortest piece, just the last 10 amino acids, and it still works fully. It's used in hospital research on fertility and hormone problems, but it isn't an approved medicine anywhere.
How it works
It switches on brain cells that start a hormone chain. Those cells signal the pituitary gland, which releases LH and FSH, the hormones that tell the testes to make testosterone or the ovaries to make estrogen and release eggs. Because it works at the top of the chain, the body's own checks stay partly in place.
What people use it for
Raising LH and testosterone in men (research)
Fertility and IVF research
Testing for puberty and hormone problems (research)
Libido and sex drive (research and claimed)
The evidence
Some human studies
It's one of the better-studied peptides in people, but only in short research studies. In healthy men, an IV dose quickly raised LH (best at 1 µg per kg), and a 2026 UK study found daily 8-hour infusions under the skin kept hormones up for 12 days, while a nonstop 5-day infusion stopped working on LH and FSH. There are no long-term studies, and the simple once-a-day shots people use at home have never been tested.
Why: This dose gave the strongest LH rise in healthy men (George 2011). LH peaked about 30 minutes later, and higher doses actually gave a smaller response.
Common community use
Reported
Dose
50–100 µg
How often
Once a day or a few times a week
When
Morning, to match the body's natural testosterone rhythm
Cycle
Short blocks of a few weeks, then a break
Route
Subcutaneous injection
Why: This range is widely shared but untested in trials. The gaps between doses are meant to keep the receptor from tuning out, which research shows can happen with nonstop use.
Start at the low end, and change one thing at a time. If you take medication or have a health condition, check with a doctor first.
Already on testosterone, fertility drugs or hormone therapy, unless a doctor is supervising
Interactions
Testosterone or steroids can weaken its effect by shutting down the hormone chain
Fertility drugs, GnRH drugs and hormonal birth control may change or block its effect
Get help right away for swelling of the face or throat, trouble breathing, chest pain, or a spreading, hot, red injection site.
Storage & legal
Storage
Powder: fridge or freezer. Once mixed: fridge, and use within about 2–3 weeks.
Legal status
FDA: Not approved. Kisspeptin-10 is on FDA's list of bulk substances that may present significant safety risks in compounding (Category 2, added September 2023), citing risk of immune reactions.
Sport (WADA): Prohibited at all times in males under S2.2.1 (kisspeptin and its agonist analogues, as testosterone-stimulating peptides).
Common questions
Is it the same as HCG or enclomiphene?
No. HCG acts like LH directly on the testes. Kisspeptin-10 works higher up, in the brain, so it depends on the rest of the hormone chain working.
Will it boost libido?
Early brain-scan research is interesting, but there's no proof that at-home shots boost sex drive.
Why does constant use stop working?
When the receptor gets flooded nonstop, it tunes out. In a 2026 study, a nonstop 5-day infusion stopped raising LH and FSH, while daily on-and-off use kept working.
